Although postponed from December 2022, IBC (International Broadcast Convention) venue has not changed. It will be held at the RAI Exhibition centre in Amsterdam. The 2022 show dates are 9-12 September 2022. The show is operating in all permanent halls of the RAI and promises to be the biggest broadcast show of the year.
The Think Expo Logistics team have been on site at the last 17 IBC Shows and have a wealth of knowledge and experience of the venue, here Paul Pini gives us a valuable insight into the show.
Transport links to the RAI
IBC is perhaps the toughest show of the year on your feet. I think my average step count per day at the last IBC was well over 25,000 per day. That said, the RAI is a fantastic venue for IBC, set just outside central Amsterdam and with great Metro, Train, Tram and of course bike links, you can access the site easily from almost the whole of Amsterdam.
Customs Procedures to consider
This year will be a little different for UK exhibitors. You will need to complete customs procedures for your exhibits, and bond fees will need to be paid on goods. This will be similar to the process you would follow when shipping to the USA or Dubai.
Think Expo Logistics are highly experienced in European freight movements and are happy to help guide you through the process. Paperwork is key and has to be correct. We will help you and ensure your exhibits are delivered to your stand on time and with the minimal amount of fuss. The RAI has good all round access and large freight doors in all halls, allowing easy fork lift truck access, don’t forget to keep the isles clear!
Pre show services
Think Expo Logistics are offering all our clients pre show warehousing in Holland, ensuring your exhibits are customs cleared in advance and delivered to your stand on the day you want them, with no delays. This does mean shipping a little earlier than usual but the extra few days will offer you total peace of mind. This is a service we have been offering for other European shows for the last 18 months and it works very well.
Storage options to consider
As per the last few shows, there will be both standard and priority empty storage service, I would recommend everyone who wants to get out of the show quickly to use the priority service. For the few extra pounds it will save you potentially hours of waiting at the show close. The return from the show will be the same as the journey to the show, with customs clearances required.
Book early!!!
There are still major issues with European transport and availability of vehicles is still a problem, ensure you book early to ensure your carrier has enough time to meet the show’s arrival deadlines.
Local Attractions
Amsterdam is a great place to go out, with many great bars and restaurants dotted around the city. However alfresco dining may not be on the cards in September in Amsterdam can be both wet and cold, so make sure you book your evening dining early. Here are some of my favorites...
I really like the restaurant MOMO which is just outside VondelPark. Its Asian fusion menu is great.
There are too many bars to name a favorite but if you head to Rembrandt square or Leidseplein… You won't be disappointed.
If you do get some free time there are many cultural places to visit, such as the Rembrandt museum or Anne Frank’s house but book early to avoid disappointment.
As mentioned, we have been working at IBC for 17 years, utilizing our knowledge and experience to help our clients. Prior to the event, we will support with all paperwork and options preferences to ensure your show success. We have on site representatives at the show who will be on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Pleasecontact us with your requirements. We look forward to working with you in Amsterdam.
